FAQ-2026

Answers to the questions our customers ask most. Can't find what you need? Use the chat button at the bottom-right of any page, or email support@sherriva.com.

Choosing the Right Product

I'm not sure which one I need.

Happy to help you choose. Tell me three things: how many displays you want to connect, what the signal comes from (PS5, PC, cable box, laptop, camera), and the resolution you need (4K@60, 4K@120 or 8K). With those I can point you to the right model.

Can I show different content on each screen?

No. Our HDMI splitters mirror the same image to every display — they can't extend your desktop. To extend, use your PC's graphics card or an external MST device.

I wanted two different screens but both show the same thing.

Splitters mirror the same image to all displays and can't extend the desktop, run a video wall, or show different content per screen. To extend, use your PC's graphics card or an external MST device.

Which splitter should I buy for two displays?

For two displays we'd start with the UHD-1280: HDMI 2.1, up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@240Hz (DSC), so it won't limit you if you upgrade your TV or console later. If your source only goes to 4K@60Hz, the UHD-1240X is the HDMI 2.0 alternative.

Which splitter should I buy for three or four displays?

For three or four displays we'd start with the UHD-1480: HDMI 2.1, up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@240Hz (DSC), so it won't limit you if you upgrade later. If your source only goes to 4K@60Hz, the UHD-1440X is the HDMI 2.0 alternative.

Can I connect two devices to one TV?

UHD-2180 is a bi-directional HDMI switch: use it as a 2-in / 1-out switch (two sources into one TV), or reverse it as a 1-in / 2-out splitter (only one display active at a time). It's powered by HDMI, with a Micro-USB port for extra power if needed, and supports up to 8K@60Hz / 4K@165Hz.

What's the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2?

On our 4K HDMI Splitter (1 in 2 Out) page, Gen 1 is the original UHD-1240 and Gen 2 is the current UHD-1240X. Gen 2 sets up the display automatically instead of using a manual EDID switch. For a new purchase choose Gen 2 - or the 8K UHD-1280 if you need 8K or 4K at 120Hz and above.

Do I need the 4K splitter or the 8K one?

The 8K UHD-1280 is HDMI 2.1 and handles 8K@60Hz and 4K@240Hz (DSC), so it won't limit you if you upgrade later. The 4K UHD-1240X is HDMI 2.0 and tops out at 4K@60Hz. If your source and TV are 4K@60 and will stay that way, the 4K model is enough.

What can the 8K splitter for 2 screens do?

UHD-1280 is a 1-in / 2-out 8K splitter: HDMI 2.1, HDCP 2.3, 48 Gbps, up to 8K@60Hz / 4K@240Hz (DSC), with downscaling for lower-resolution displays.

What can the 8K splitter for 4 screens do?

UHD-1480 is a 1-in / 4-out 8K splitter: HDMI 2.1, HDCP 2.3, 48 Gbps, up to 8K@60Hz / 4K@240Hz (DSC), mirrored outputs.

What can the 4K splitter for 2 screens do?

UHD-1240X is a 1-in / 2-out HDMI splitter: HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, 18 Gbps, up to 4K@60Hz, with automatic downscaling. Outputs are mirrored.

Is the UHD-1240 still available?

UHD-1240 is discontinued, but we still fully support it for setup, troubleshooting, warranty, and returns. For a new purchase we'd suggest the UHD-1280 (HDMI 2.1, 8K@60Hz / 4K@240Hz with DSC), or the UHD-1240X if 4K@60Hz is all you need.

What's the difference between the Personal Use Set and the Business Use Set?

The Personal Use Set includes 1 transmitter and 1 receiver — ideal for a single source. The Business Use Set includes 2 transmitters and 1 receiver — ideal for multi-device setups or switching between two sources for team collaboration.

Picture & Resolution Problems

I've set it up but something isn't working.

Let's narrow it down. Tell me which model you have (it's printed on the box and on your order confirmation), what's plugged into it, and what you see: no picture at all, a picture on only one display, no sound, or flickering. Then I can give you the right steps.

Only one of my displays shows a picture. How do I fix it?

Move the dead display's cable to the working port to check the cable and display. Importantly, make sure OUTPUT-1 has a powered-on display connected — that's the most common cause. Confirm each cable meets spec.

My 8K TV only shows 4K. What should I check?

Connect the 8K TV to OUTPUT-1, set the EDID switch to B MODE, and power OFF/ON. Confirm the source, TV, and cable all support 8K and that you're using an HDMI 2.1 certified cable.

My 4K TV only shows 1080p. How do I fix it?

Connect the 4K TV to OUTPUT-1, set EDID to B MODE (Auto Downscaling / Priority), then power the unit OFF/ON. Confirm the source outputs 4K and the cable supports it.

Can I connect an 8K TV?

Yes, with the UHD-1280, UHD-1480 or UHD-2180. Connect the 8K TV to OUTPUT-1, set the EDID switch to B MODE, power the unit OFF then ON, and use an HDMI 2.1 certified cable.

Can I get 4K at 240Hz?

Yes - with DSC (Display Stream Compression). The UHD-1280 and UHD-1480 can output 4K@240Hz when both your source device and display support DSC, using an HDMI 2.1 certified cable. Without DSC, their maximum is 8K@60Hz / 4K@120Hz.

I get no picture at all through the splitter. What do I do?

No picture usually comes down to a cable, the HDCP handshake, or a spec mismatch. First connect the source directly to the display to confirm both work on their own. Then reseat every cable, check each one supports your resolution, and power the splitter OFF then ON to reset the handshake. Still nothing? I'll connect you with our team.

The screen goes black after I turn the TV off and on again.

This is usually the TV's CEC feature interrupting the HDCP handshake when the TV powers back on. Turn CEC off in your TV settings and power-cycle the TV. While the picture is working, unplug and replug the splitter-to-TV cable, then power the splitter OFF/ON. If it still goes black every time, our team can help.

The picture flickers or breaks into blocks.

Flicker on 8K models is most often HDR / Dolby Vision on the source, so turn that off first. Then switch to an 8K 48 Gbps certified cable and enable your display's enhanced mode if it has one. If it still flickers after all three, let me connect you with our team.

Does the splitter support 4K@144Hz?

Yes, with DSC. The UHD-1280 and UHD-1480 reach 4K@240Hz when your source and display both support DSC (Display Stream Compression), so 4K@144Hz is within range - use an HDMI 2.1 certified cable. Without DSC they top out at 4K@120Hz, and some displays negotiate down to 120Hz over EDID.

Sound & Soundbars

Do your HDMI splitters support ARC or eARC?

No. ARC/eARC sends audio back from the TV to an audio device, while a splitter does the opposite - it sends video and audio out to your displays. Because the purposes differ, an ARC/eARC-only soundbar on a splitter output gets no sound. Connect the soundbar to a standard HDMI audio path instead.

My soundbar has no sound on the splitter.

It sounds like the soundbar is connected through its ARC/eARC port. ARC/eARC sends audio back from the TV, while a splitter sends audio and video out to your displays, so an ARC/eARC-only port gets no sound. Connect the soundbar to a standard HDMI IN instead; if there's still no sound, let me connect you with our team.

There's a picture but no sound. What do I do?

Usually it's one of three things: something is muted, the wrong input is selected, or the display can't handle the audio format being sent. Check mute and input, then set the EDID switch to A MODE so the splitter uses a format all your displays support. Still no sound? I'll connect you with our team.

Can I connect a soundbar for Dolby Atmos?

Yes - with a splitter. Connect the Atmos soundbar or AVR to OUTPUT-1 using its standard HDMI IN, set the EDID switch to B MODE, and use an HDMI 2.1 certified cable. Note: splitters don't support ARC/eARC, so an ARC-only port won't work. Our wireless models carry stereo audio only and can't pass Atmos.

Game Consoles

Will a splitter work with my PS5 at 4K@120Hz?

Yes - use the UHD-1280 or UHD-1480 8K splitters, or the UHD-2180 switch; they support 4K@120Hz. You'll need an HDMI 2.1 certified cable, a display that supports 4K@120Hz, and the TV's Enhanced HDMI mode enabled. Note: the 4K models (UHD-1240X / UHD-1440X) are HDMI 2.0 and top out at 4K@60Hz.

Can I send my PS5 to a TV and a soundbar at the same time?

Yes: PS5 to the splitter INPUT, OUTPUT-1 to the TV, OUTPUT-2 to the soundbar's HDMI IN. Set EDID to A MODE for mixed devices and use certified cables. Important: the soundbar needs a standard HDMI IN — an ARC/eARC-only port won't work. Some soundbars also cap video at 4K@60Hz.

Cables

How do I choose the right HDMI cable?

Not all HDMI cables are the same - the cable has to support the resolution you want. An under-spec cable often causes flicker, or quietly drops your picture to a lower resolution with no warning. For 8K@60 or 4K@120 you need an HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed (48 Gbps) cable: our UHD-10KB. The 6.6 ft suits most setups; other lengths on the product page.

Wireless HDMI

Does wireless HDMI do 4K?

Our wireless screen-sharing kits (WHD-1000, WHD-5000, WHD-5100) transmit up to 1080p@60Hz. If you need 4K, our camera wireless system (WHD-6000 / WHD-6100) sends real 4K@30Hz up to 1000 ft. Range figures are line-of-sight; walls and interference reduce them.

My wireless transmitter shows no picture or 'no signal'.

This usually comes down to power, the cables, or the USB-C port. Make sure every cable is firmly seated and you're using the included power and HDMI cables. For USB-C transmitters, confirm the source's USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode (the ability to output video over USB-C). Still no picture? I'll connect you with our team.

Can I send video to my TV without a cable?

WHD-1000 is a portable USB-C wireless kit (transmitter + receiver). It sends video/audio from a USB-C source to an HDMI display, up to 100 ft line-of-sight, latency under 0.2 s. The source's USB-C port must support DP Alt Mode (video output over USB-C).

Do the wireless transmitters support Dolby Atmos?

No — wireless models support standard stereo audio only, not Dolby Atmos. For Atmos, use a wired path such as a UHD-1280 or UHD-1480 splitter.

The wireless video lags or looks low quality.

Wireless picture quality depends on distance and interference. Move the transmitter and receiver closer together with nothing blocking the line of sight, and reduce interference from other wireless or high-power devices (Wi-Fi router, microwave, AC). If it's still laggy or blurry after that, let me connect you with our team.

My wireless transmitter and receiver won't pair.

Units are paired at the factory, so this is the re-pairing procedure. For the WHD-1000, insert a pin into the receiver's RESET hole for 3-6 seconds to enter pairing mode, then long-press the transmitter button. If the receiver's LED stays solid and never blinks, it likely needs service - let me connect you with our team.

My device only has USB-A — can I use a USB-A to USB-C adapter?

No. USB-A ports don't carry video, and an adapter only changes the connector shape — it can't add video output. Our USB-C transmitter needs a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode. If your device only has USB-A, use an HDMI output with the WHD-5000H or WHD-5000 kit instead.

TV Antennas

Do your TV antennas need power?

Yes. All our antennas are amplified and need the included Power Inserter to work. Connect the antenna coax to the Power Inserter's ANT port, its output to your TV's antenna input, plug in the power, then run a channel scan (Antenna / Air / Auto Scan). Place thin indoor models on a wall or window — not behind the TV or in a closed cabinet.

My antenna gets no channels.

No channels usually means the Power Inserter isn't connected or powered. Check the antenna coax goes to the Power Inserter's ANT port, its output to the TV's antenna input, and that it's powered. Then re-run the TV's channel scan and reposition the antenna higher, near a window, aimed at the towers. Still nothing? I'll connect you with our team.

Can I connect one antenna to several TVs?

Yes, but you'll need a separate coaxial splitter for TV antenna, which isn't included. Splitting weakens the signal, so reception can suffer with a weak local signal, long cables, or many TVs. We recommend a maximum of 2 TVs for stable picture quality.
